We live in uncertain times, where the World we once knew a few years ago has changed. If you listen to the news (which I don't advise) all you hear is people talking about this Global Economic Crisis. The US as a nation has a debt of $15 Trillion, and Europe is struggling with the Euro single currency. Greece is bankrupt, with Spain and Italy not far behind. They’re even talking about a double dip recession. So what can you do about your own situation?
First of all, don't get overwhelmed with all this information. The fact of the matter is this; people still have money to spend, especially the rich. The majority of people are still working, eating and enjoying themselves. Yes, more people are out of work compared to three years ago, and some people have cut back on their spending due to fear generated by the media, but life goes on. The good that has come from this, is that people will start to buy only what they need, not what they think they should have. The culture of ‘buy now, pay later’ has surely changed forever.
So what can you do in these times to improve your net worth? I’m sure like most of us, you’re looking at your own finances thinking ‘what can I cut back on?’. On top of this, we’re all living longer and pensions that once were going to reward handsomely, now look like you’ll be worse off in your retirement.
First of all, don't look for someone else to blame! That won't change your situation, so start to look at what you can do for you. What about starting an online business to help other people improve their lives, using the internet as your shop window? This is easier than you think, especially these days. And remember that despite the economic conditions, each and every day more and more people are getting on-line. Countries like China and India have spent far too long in poverty, watching as the West spent their time partying. Now these new tiger economies want a piece of the action.
Also, as people reflect on the mess they've created, you can help. Why not assist them in creating a better mindset? Our minds are very powerful, yet very under-utilised in this materialistic world. People buy gadgets to make them feel better, but the void in their lives never shrinks. That is because what’s missing is the correct mind set or thoughts.
