Do you have a sinking feeling in the bottom of your stomach? Are you constantly worrying about where your husband is and what he's doing? Although every individual involved in an affair behaves differently, there are some common signs of cheating to watch out for. If you suspect that your husband is cheating, watch out for these signs - they could confirm your fears or prove them wrong.
1. He Makes Secret Phone Calls and Texts
While your husband may need to make the occasional phone call in private for work reasons, if he is making nearly every phone call in private or takes his phone calls in a different room, it could indicate that he has something to hide. Another sign is that your husband no longer shares text messages with you or is no longer comfortable with you picking up his phone if he is out of the room. He may also keep his phone on him at all times, when in the past he may have been happy to leave it lying around.
2. He Deletes Messages
If your husband regularly deletes text messages, emails or call history, it could mean that he has something to hide. Most people don't bother deleting texts or emails until their inbox are full, and deleting messages straight away could indicate that they have a secret.
3. He No Longer Tells You About His Day
When your husband gets home from work at the end of the day and you sit down for a conversation with him, if he is short and non-communicative about what he got up to during the day, it could indicate that he has something that he wants to hide. He might not want to draw attention to himself, so instead of lying, he might prefer to just not tell you anything at all.
4. He Becomes Distant
If your husband suddenly becomes distant with you - for example, he may no longer want to have sex, or he may avoid forms of physical contact such as kissing, hugging or holding hands, it could mean that something else is going on. He may also push you away emotionally - he could avoid conversations with you and he may seem like he no longer wants to spend time with you.
5. He Spends More Time at the Office
If your hubby suddenly starts having to work long hours, despite never having to work long hours before, or if he suddenly starts having to go away on business trips or has to spend nights at the office, it could mean that he is spending his time elsewhere. If your husband also neglects to give you information about his business trips, or if he doesn't tell you why he needs to work these extra hours, he could have something to hide.
6. He Has Multiple Social Networking Accounts
A cheating husband may well be cheating online, too. If your husband has multiple social networking accounts, or if he changes his password so that you can no longer access his account, it could mean that he is communicating with a lover. People who are in a committed marriage do not need to have secret accounts, so if you find one, it could mean that there is a serious problem.
7. He Spends Lots of Time with a New "Friend"
If your husband has a new friend, or if he has reconnected with an old friend, and suddenly starts spending more and more time with that new friend, either in person, by phone or on the computer, it could indicate that there is more to their relationship than meets the eye. If your husband is also reluctant to talk about their new friend, or is unwilling to let the two of you meet, it could indicate that they are more than just friends.
8. He Goes Out for Longer
If your husband regularly pops to the gym for an hour on a few days of the week, or if he walks the dog for half an hour each day, and his time spent out of the house suddenly doubles or triples, it could mean that he is sneaking off to see a lover. He may also start "popping to the shop" every evening and could bring back something that you don't really need.
9. He Smells Different
An obvious sign that he is cheating is if he smells of a different woman's perfume. But he may also smell different if he is washing or showering at someone else's house, due to using different soap. He could also smell of different washing powder if his clothes are being washed elsewhere. Also, if he comes home from "work" or "walking the dog" smelling like he has just had a shower, it could indicate that he is coming home from someone else's house.
10. He Picks Fights and is Angrier
A husband having an affair may feel incredibly guilty about what he's doing, so to alleviate some of that guilt, he may pick fights with you - if the two of you are fighting, it helps to prove to him that although he is cheating, part of the blame lies with you because of the way that you are fighting. Your husband may also lash out at you verbally more frequently, simply because keeping an affair secret is very difficult, and the stress of it could cause his personality to change - making him angrier and more stressed.
